Oregon City sneaks by North Marion with walk-off
Excerpt from NM Athletics Spring Sports HuskyZone - Week 3
After a 1-2 mark in the tournament, North Marion’s schedule didn’t lighten up at all, as on Friday they headed to Oregon City for a matchup with the 6A defending state champions.
After trailing 4-1 for a good amount of the game, North Marion hit the comeback trail in the sixth inning. A new pitcher was on the mound for the pioneers. The Huskies jolted the new pitcher with two hits to open the inning. Wampole, Moore, Barrell, and McKillip all had base hits in the inning. McKillip was the hero of the inning, as his single brought home two runs including the tying run.
Things looked to be falling in place as North Marion took the lead in the seventh after Keltin Boykin plated the go-ahead run on an RBI double.
However, the Pioneers bats came out full force in the seventh inning as a walkoff sealed the close 6-5 win.
