MOLALLA - A day after the Huskies narrowly escaped with a season-opening win, North Marion and Molalla were back at it Wednesday evening from Al Geddes Field at Molalla High School. The Huskies used seven hits in the final two innings to break open a scoreless contest and take the 6-0 win.

Things got off to a very slow start offensively for the Huskies (6-5, 2-0), as the first hit of the game did not come until the fourth inning after Keltin Boykin singled through the hole at short. The Indians (3-9, 0-2) scattered hits here and there throughout the game, but were never able to string hits together.

After only recording two hits through the first five innings, Kyle Williamson jump-started the Huskies' offense in the sixth inning, desperately seeking to get on the scoreboard. Tristan Wampole picked up his team-leading 14th RBI of the season, bringing in Williamson on an RBI double to plate the Huskies' go-ahead run. Nat Barrell and Josiah Ramon would go on to record RBIs of their own later in the inning, giving North Marion the 3-0 lead.

The Huskies offense went back on attack in the seventh. Wyatt Moore, Kyle Williamson, and Keltin Boykin all notched base hits in the inning as three insurance runs were tallied to give the Huskies a 6-0 lead.

Moore put the finishing touches on the Huskies' victory with a mostly-clean seventh inning, save for a ground ball which took a bad hop. Other than that, Wyatt struck out the side in the seventh, completing the shutout and earning the win.

Wyatt Moore finished the day with nine strikeouts, a career-high for the senior hurler. Moore struck out eight in an 11-2 defeat of the Dayton Pirates last season. Moore also walked just one while surrendering five hits.

Kyle Williamson, Keltin Boykin, and Shane McKillip highlighted offensive days for the Huskies with two hits apiece. RBIs came from Josiah Ramon (2), Tristan Wampole, Keltin Boykin, and Nat Barrell.

North Marion has tallied at least nine hits in each of the last five games, a feat that has not been accomplished in any of the past four years. The Huskies took the season series from the Indians with Wednesday's win, and North Marion will look to complete the sweep of the three-game series when the two teams meet up again on April 30th. Next up, the Huskies host a non-conference matchup with the Horizon Christian Hawks on Saturday with a scheduled first pitch time of noon.
