Offense sets season bests in defeat of Estacada

ESTACADA - Tristan Wampole and Wyatt Moore combined to go 7-for-7 on the day, accounting for a big part of North Marion's season-high run and hit totals, as the Huskies went on to defeat Estacada 12-7 on Monday evening. The Huskies totalled 12 runs - surpassing 10 vs. Newport - and 12 hits - beating out 11 vs. Oregon City.

North Marion (10-7, 6-1) got a solid two-out rally going in the opening frame. Tristan Wampole belted a double to deep left field and Nat Barrell's ensuing RBI single brought Wampole home to put the Huskies up 1-0.

After holding Estacada quiet in the home-half of the first, the Huskies got back to work in the second inning. Estacada's first of six errors on the day scored one of North Marion's runs, while a two-RBI single by Wampole scored the others. The Huskies added another in the fourth inning when a ball hit to the base of the outfield fence by none other than Tristan Wampole plated another.

Leading 5-0, North Marion gave up the first run to Estacada in the fifth inning. The Rangers scored on an RBI groundout, but the Huskies did a great job to limit the damage after using a double play to end the inning.

Sacrifice flies in the sixth inning by Wyatt Moore and Josiah Ramon rebuilt the Huskies lead to 7-1. However, the Rangers came roaring back in the sixth with four runs off of five hits.

With just a two-run lead heading into the seventh inning, the Huskies bats caught on fire. Breshears, Patterson, Moore, and Beiser notched base hits in the inning while the Rangers' starter finally ran out of gas as he surrendered some walks.

The 12-5 lead was more than enough to withstand a two-run seventh by Estacada after Wyatt Moore needed 35 pitches to close out the seventh. Brock Breshears (7-0, 1.13) threw the first six innings allowing ten hits and four earned runs while striking out seven. Moore pitched the seventh, issuing free passes to four batters while striking out three.

Tristan Wampole paced the Huskies' offense with an individual season-high mark of four hits; Wyatt Moore was on his heels with three. Offensively, North Marion set season highs in at bats, hits, runs, total bases, sac flies, and runners left on base despite being without one of their leading batters in Kyle Williamson. Estacada set opponent season highs by striking out ten times and committing six errors.

The series shifts to Bob Brack Stadium on Wednesday when the two teams reconvene on the diamond. A 5:00pm first pitch is scheduled as North Marion will look to clinch the season series victory over Estacada.
