North Marion edged La Salle Prep, 1-0, Thursday afternoon to move to 11-1 in Tri-Valley Conference play as the Huskies beat the Falcons for the third time this season.
The game's lone run came in the top of the third when North Marion junior first basemen Tristan Wampole drew a bases loaded walk from Falcon starter Trey Norton. La Salle had chances to score in virtually every inning as Falcon runners reached base safely in six of seven innings; but the offense failed to come up with the big hit.
Junior Brock Breshears threw a complete game shut out on the mound for North Marion. Breshears scattered eight hits over seven innnings walking two without issuing a strike out. The Huskies victory gives them a two game lead in the Tri-Valley Conference with three games remaining in the regular season. The Huskies need just one win in their final three games to secure the league title.
The loss snapped an eight game winning streak for La Salle, which holds a three game lead on Gladstone for second place in the conference. North Marion has won six in a row since losing to Gladstone on April 18. Head coach Randy Brack discusses about the hard fought North Marion victory in the video below.
