YAMHILL - North Marion relied on Hunter Beachy's solid pitching in a scoreless game through four innings. Once the Huskies forced Yamhill-Carlton to dig into their bullpen, North Marion piled on the runs to finish off a three-game sweep of the Tigers with an 8-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.

The 8-0 victory was North Marion's (10-12, 7-4) first shutout victory of the 2015 season and first since a 13-0 win at Madras in May of 2014. Yamhill-Carlton's league-worst record dropped to 1-10.

The Huskies placed a runner on third base in each of the first four innings but failed to scratch accross a run. Strikeouts ended North Marion's threat in the first, second, and third innings, while a fielder's choice kept the Huskies scoreless in the fourth.

North Marion finally got on the board with a run-scoring single off the bat of Josiah Ramon, bringing in Jordan Kendall who doubled early in the frame.

With a 1-0 lead in hand, the Huskies forced Yamhill-Carlton to turn to its bullpen in the sixth inning. Walks and wild pitches plagued the Tigers relievers and yielded two more runs for North Marion.

The Huskies broke the game open in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs. Shane McKillip, Dylan Doubrava, Kendall, and Beachy all recorded base hits in an inning which put North Marion on top 8-0.

Beachy was on target from the get-go, tossing the complete game shutout in just 76 pitches. The right-hander walked just one and allowed only four hits, striking out three. It was the second complete game and first complete game shutout of the senior's career.

North Marion ended the game with 14 runners left on base. After a rough start to the day with runners in scoring position, the Huskies finished out the game batting 7-for-21 (.333) with runners in scoring position.

Coupled with a Cascade loss, North Marion's victory moved them back into sole possession of second place in the Oregon West Conference standings, two games back of the league-leading Newport Cubs.

The Huskies next matchup is a pivotal rubber match in the three-game series with Philomath. The Warriors currently sit one game back of North Marion and are in a tie for third in the conference. The winner of Friday's matchup takes the head-to-head tiebreaker for the season series. First pitch is set for 4:30pm from Philomath High School.
